Entering into pregnancy is wonderful and exciting time but it can become overwhelming. There are a lot of decisions to make regarding your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care that might make you a bit nervous. That is totally normal, especially if you are planning a natural birth! If you are thinking about having a natural birth, here are a few tips that might help you feel better prepared.

Take Childbirth Education Classes: We cannot stress this enough, it is extremely important you educate yourself and your partner. Have you ever heard the quote “If I don’t know my options, I don’t have any”? It is absolutely true. You need to know your options, and childbirth education classes are there to help you!

Stay Healthy: Keeping up with your nutrition and exercise is the key to keep you healthy during pregnancy, which helps during labor! Try to limit sugar (we know it is hard but so worth it!) and get some protein, fruits, and veggies.

Self care: It is so easy to focus on preparing for your baby and forget about yourself, but don’t do that! Make sure to go on extra dates with your partner, spend time with friends, and pamper yourself! It will help you alleviate stress, which is good for you and baby!

Birth Plan: Create a birth plan with your partner. Make sure your birth plan is simple and to the point. Make sure to go over your birth plan with your provider, and carry a birth plan for you and your provider in your birth bag!
